
There are just a few days left to enter the 2008-2009 Commonwealth Short Story Competition but luckily you can email your story which must be no more than 600words.
The free to enter competition encourages new writing in the Commonwealth and to increase the understanding between and appreciation of different Commonwealth cultures. First prize is £2,000.
All Commonwealth citizens are eligible to participate in the competition. There is no age limit and entries can come from either amateur or professional writers - there is no entry form. Stories can be any on any subject but must be previously unpublished.

The deadline for receipt of entries has been extended to May 9 2008 you can enter by post or email. Maximum of three entries per person.

Last year's winner was Ellen Banda-Aaku of Zambia with 'Sozi's Box' which was selected as the best story from the Africa region of the Commonwealth and as the winning story from more than two thousand entries.
Twenty five other writers from across the Commonwealth also won prizes in the 2007 competition, including Emily Pedder (UK) Regional Winner (Europe) for "Days Are Long".

Only women win these prizes. Very few men are being chosen. There is a lot of bias in this competition.
