You'd be a twit to miss these opportunities -

I remember reading Roald Dahl's The Twits as a class at primary school and like thousands of children - I loved it (especially the horrible bits like the glass eye and the worm spaghetti.) It's naughty and not too long with great illustrations by Quentin Blake - bare bums! Now there's a chance to see the story brought to life

Best of all the play is being put on outdoors for free across Sefton.
The Twits is being directed by Suzy Walker for the Gambolling Arena Theatre Company at the following places:
South Park, Bootle - Monday May 26
Botanic Gardens, Southport -Tuesday May 27
Marine Gardnes, Crosby - Wednesday May 28
Derby Park, Bootle - Thursday May 29
Copy Farm Park, Netherton - Friday May 30
Let's hope it's a sunny week.
If you have a hankering to write a play yourself and again live in the Sefton area you might be interested in a workshop being offered.
Sefton Script Workshop course will teach writers the art of scriptwriting and they are even offering a free taster so you can try before you buy.
A spokesman said: "Have you written a script and want to know if it’s any good? Are you a budding actor interested in reading and working on new scripts? Then Sefton Script Workshop could be the group for you. The group will explore script styles, learn to develop their own writing by giving and receiving constructive criticism, and be involved in other exciting developments such as competitions, free tickets for plays at the Arts Centre and see your own work performed!"
The workshop is run by theatre practitioner and writer Steve Fairclough, who is also Director of Youth Theatre at Southport Arts Centre. It is supported by North West Playwrights.
The free taster session on Tuesday the 11th September from 7pm till 9pm. Membership of the group will be limited to 25 participants (ages 16+). There is also a full ten-week term course available costing £40 or £20 for concessions.

Sue, The Twits is proving one of our Jack's favourites. His gran snaffled it on CD (along with lots of other Roald Dahl CDs) at a jumble sale.

He's working his way through them all. He likes The Twits because of the worms in pasta and frogs in people's beds. Bare bums go down well with any little boys.

He was listening to it again tonight as he drifted off to sleep.

We'll look out for the outdoor productions later in the month.
