
Schools are being invited to register to take part in the 2009 World Book Day short story competition.
The competition will be launched this September with all registered schools being given their randomly allocated first line in October. The first lines are being written by famous writers, last year authors taking part included Jacqueline Wilson and Michael Rosen.
The competition is sponsored by Evans Education and schools need to register on their website www.evans.education.co.uk
Last year twelve winners were chosen from 3,000 entries to have their work published in an anthology 'Why Where Her Toes Like that?' and other short stories.
This year the competition will be spilt into two categories - primary and seconday schools, middle, full age range or special schools, should choose the most appropriate level. The deadline will be in November.
