I'm back from a short break to Riga with lots of story ideas

The Cat House, Riga
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, I've had a busy week. First of all I lost my purse which was just horrible but thankfully a very kind person found it and managed to get it back to me. Then the next morning (far too early) I jetted off for a short break to Riga, Latvia.
Riga is a fantastic place with a very photo-friendly old city - I've taken lots of pictures which I need to sort out. I also sampled the local fare and particularly enjoyed a meal in Rozengrals a Medieval-themed restaurant. I'm sure the atmosphere will come in handy for a story. It was in a candlelit cellar with rustic tables and staff in authentic dress.

The city has 200,000 stray cats and a distinctive building called Cat House (KaÄ·u mÄ?ja) with two black felines on it's towers so I 'm going to have to pen a cat story too! There was also a coffee/Black Balsam (the local drink - very strong tastes like it would do wonders for a cold) place I didn't get round to visiting where they dress up and have an alchemy/magic show. I think there could be a story there too, I'm really intrigued by magicians and illusionists and I am currently reading Derren Brown's book 'Tricks of the Mind' and watched his Messiah show on Riga TV. I also went to the local zoo and saw some animals I've never seen before including the kinkajou - one of those might well turn up in a future Dr Midas book.
I've been fortunate enough to visit some lovely European cities and I've been planning on using some of the local stories to use in stories. Prague for example has the amazing Golem legend and Golden Lane. (I really wanted to go after reading the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud.)
