Bristol City Council's library department is running a short story competition to tie in with the Bristol 1807 project. The challenge is to write a 500 word story on the subject 'The Time Traveller's Life'.
The city council website explains: "Can you imagine what life would have been like if you lived in Bristol in 1807? Describe your experiences in the year the UK Parliament passed 'The Abolition of the Slave Trade Act' and you could win."
Writers can also look at the Bristol 1807 - A Sense of Place web pages or visit the Bristol Central Library 1807 exhibition.
There are three book token prizes up for grabs, a £75 one for 1st, £50 one for 2nd and £25 for third and the winning entries will be published on the city council website.
A complete list of rules including a downloadable entry form is available at www.bristol.gov.uk under libraries news and events
Entry is open to anyone aged 18 and over. The deadline is 12 noon on Friday December 5th.
