A new routine
Well I'm officially unemployed. I spent a good while on Monday speaking to a nice lady from the Job Centre plus on the phone and now I have to go for an interview to talk through my situation. It's very strange not having a full time job as I've been with Trinity Mirror for twelve years. I did sign on for a short time after uni' but that seems a long, long time ago now.
To be honest, now I'm at home it feels more like I'm off sick or on holiday. I've been settling into a new routine, I did think I would have a few lie-in's to begin with but I've been waking up around 8.30 on average. That's a good hour later than normal, but certainly nowhere near the deep sleeps I had as a student!
I've been very busy, in fact there aren't enough hours in the day. I've done quite a bit of writing and was very pleased to receive an email on Monday requesting my Dr Midas manuscript. Unfortunately I've had to explain that I'm in the middle of the rewrite, but luckily they're happy to wait.
The rewrite's going well so far although my dog keeps trying to lie on my lap between me and my laptop. She's also going to have to get used to my new routine!
I'm also following in Dr Midas's footsteps as I've just become an unpaid volunteer at Preston museum. It will just be a few hours a week but I'm really looking forward to it. The team there are really friendly, and very young! The museum itself is a wonderful building with some really imaginative ways of drawing the public into the different exhibits they have on.
I also start my second website design course this week, I know I keep saying this but my Dr Midas one is coming on leaps and bounds. No excuses for not having it finished and uploaded by the end of March!
Well I guess that's all for now, I hope you'll stick with me during all these changes, and as always I love to hear from you, especially from ex-colleagues with writing ambitions!

Hi Susan
Good luck with the job search. Perhaps this is fate letting you know that Dr Midas has great things to come and your time is needed!
I was reading about your series the other day after going to the Few of Our Favourite Things website. Can't wait to read it.
Good luck

Hi Dulcinea!
Nice to hear from a fellow SCBWI member especially one who has been on the Few of Our Favourite Things site which has some fab writers on there. I'd love to see Dr Midas in print one day and on optimistic days I love the idea of fate - but I'm doing all I can to give it a helping hand!!!!
